2000 Bentley Arnage Red Label

Impeccable service history; over £30,000 spent in the last 5 years; a lovely example that hides its mileage remarkably well

At launch in 1998, the Bentley Arnage used a twin-turbo version of the BMW 4.4-litre V8 which produced 349bhp and 420lb/ft of torque. However, when VW took over the Bentley brand in 1999, the BMW powerplant was replaced with the traditional Rolls-Royce 6.75-litre V8 with a single Garrett turbocharger which gave 400bhp and 616lb/ft – making the new Arnage Red Label the fastest and most powerful four-door production car in the world.

The sheer hedonism of the interior put it into a class of its own, as did the £180k price tag, Evo magazine observing (in a most un-Evo-like manner!) that it had “almost too much power” while Jeremy Clarkson summed it up perfectly: “It’s like Blenheim Palace – on speed.”

Supplied new by Straight Eight of Lyndhurst in November 2000, this Arnage Red Label looks superb in Silver Tempest with a Parchment hide interior. Used as its makers intended, it has covered 144,668 miles to date with an excellent service history comprising 20 stamps in the book, the last at 139,300 miles in November 2021 which included a new set of Bridgestone tyres and new front brake discs and pads. This gives an average service interval of just 7,000 miles.

Since 2017 the car has been serviced six times by Balmoral of Halesowen, the bills on file adding up to a hefty £31,000 over this period to keep everything in tip-top order. Our vendor, the eighth owner, is a professional Rolls-Royce technician who has been using the car as his daily driver for the last year or so, reporting that it goes well with no warning lights present.

As you can see in the photos, the body and paintwork are superb and you can scarcely believe the car has covered 40k miles, let alone 140k. The interior is almost equally good, with only the merest signs of wear.

Driven some 50 miles to the sale, it has been starting instantly and running well as we have moved it around on site. Retaining its original owner’s handbook, it has an MOT until August 2023 with no advisories recorded.

On offer here at a modest guide price, this impeccably maintained and beautifully presented Arnage looks ridiculously good value and will make you feel like a millionaire every time you slip behind the wheel. Go on, you only live once…
