Description
1974 Triumph Stag
Restored in the late 1990s
including rebuilt engine and manual overdrive gearbox and only 6,500 miles
since
First registered in
September 1974, this Stag had just one owner from 1994 – 2020 and comes with a
large history file covering this 26-year period. Dozens of invoices and various
photos show that the car was fully restored in the mid/late-1990s with many new
parts, all aspects of the car being attended to – bodywork; interior; brakes;
steering; suspension; differential etc.
The original 3.0 V8 engine
was also rebuilt with new pistons and bearings etc, as was the manual overdrive
gearbox. Old MOTs show that since the restoration was completed, the car has
only covered around 6,500 miles.
As you can see in the
photos, the car still looks very smart today, with gleaming Pimento Red
paintwork, good brightwork and a very good hood with a clear rear window. It
also has a Stag BosScreen Perspex wind deflector stored in the boot.
Our vendor
acquired the car from the previous long-term owner in May 2020 and has continued
to look after it well, including a recent service (plugs, dizzy cap, HT
leads, oil and fuel filters, fresh engine and gearbox oil). We are told that it
has also had a new steering rack and slave cylinder.
Starting promptly and running very sweetly indeed as we have moved
it around on site, with a lovely V8 burble from the stainless steel exhaust,
this freshly rejuvenated Stag doubtless has another 50 years of useful life
ahead of it and looks mighty tempting at the sensible guide price
suggested.
