A particularly handsome
example of Jensen's famous British grand tourer, this Interceptor III is powered
by the familiar 7,212cc V8 petrol engine coupled to an automatic transmission.
First registered in January 1974, it has had just four former keepers and has
been with the current owner since August 2002, representing almost 24 years of
ownership.
Originally finished in blue, the Jensen was repainted in March
2003 in this attractive Brown Metallic, chosen to complement the beige leather
interior. We think the colour combination suits the car particularly well,
giving it a very distinctive and suitably period appearance.
The
speedometer currently displays 53,837 miles, although this cannot be verified.
There are, however, 16 previous MOT certificates within the history file,
together with extensive invoices and paperwork documenting considerable work and
maintenance carried out during the current ownership.
More recent work is
particularly well documented. In 2019, Rejen Jensen Specialists carried out work
including the fitting of new door skins, together with engine work which
included skimming the cylinder head. Further work was undertaken by specialists
Martin Robey Sales Ltd during 2022, including general servicing and maintenance,
together with the fitting of a new starter motor and new fuel tank. These later
works add to a considerable history of expenditure and maintenance over the
years.
The car presents well, with impressive bodywork and an especially
appealing patinated beige leather interior which has acquired the sort of
character that is increasingly difficult to replicate. The cabin retains the
luxurious and substantial feel for which the Interceptor was renowned, while the
Brown Metallic paintwork gives the car an understated but very attractive
appearance.
The Interceptor was driven over 25 miles to our site and,
during its time with us for photography and a short video, started, drove and
stopped as expected.
A very attractive, long-term owned example with a
substantial history file, extensive documented maintenance and specialist work,
appealing Brown Metallic and beige leather colour combination, and the added
reassurance of having been driven to us. An imposing and increasingly
collectible British grand tourer which should appeal to both the Jensen
enthusiast and the classic car collector.
