1985 Audi
UR-Quattro (WR 10-valve) Project Car; digital dashboard; Alpine White with black leather interior;
currently owned for last 9 years
Few road
cars have shaped the history of motorsport quite like the legendary Audi
UR-Quattro. Developed from Audi’s revolutionary quattro all-wheel-drive
technology that transformed international rallying in the early 1980s, the
UR-Quattro remains one of the most significant homologation cars ever produced.
Its influence across the World Rally Championship cemented Audi’s place in rally
folklore and redefined what performance road cars could
achieve.
Presented here is a 1985 Audi UR-Quattro
(WR 10-valve) finished in Alpine White with black leather interior, a classic
and highly desirable specification that perfectly captures the era in which
these cars dominated the rally stages.
First
registered in May 1985, this example represents an exciting opportunity to
acquire a largely complete restoration project of one of the most iconic
performance cars of the 1980s.
Powered by Audi’s
distinctive 2144cc turbocharged inline-five cylinder engine, paired with a
5-speed manual gearbox, the UR-Quattro delivered the unmistakable sound and
performance that became synonymous with Audi’s rally success. The WR-code engine
is the correct and desirable unit for this generation.
The vendor has owned the car since October 2017, during which time it
was stripped for restoration. We are advised that all welding work has been
completed, leaving the next custodian to carry out the paintwork and
reassembly.
Importantly, the car is reported to
be 99% complete, making it a highly appealing project for enthusiasts and
collectors alike. The engine starts, although it cuts out shortly after running,
with the vendor suggesting a suspected immobiliser fault. The car’s windscreen
is currently cracked.
This example also benefits
from being from the first year Audi introduced the digital dashboard to the
UR-Quattro, a distinctive feature that further enhances the car’s period
character.
The car is accompanied by its logbook
along with a selection of receipts and invoices.
The Audi UR-Quattro stands as one of the most recognisable
rally-derived road cars ever produced, and values of good examples continue to
rise as enthusiasts seek to own a piece of rallying history.
For anyone wishing to take on an exciting restoration and return a
true Group B era icon to the road, this example offers an outstanding
opportunity. Once completed, it will represent not only a thrilling driver’s car
but also a highly collectible piece of Audi’s legendary motorsport
heritage.
