This fabulous Morris Minor
Two-Door was supplied new in January 1969 via Henlys of Hereford to first owner
Cecil Lerego, proprietor of CF Lerego & Son who owned Castle Garage and
Kyrle Motor Works in Ross-on-Wye. Remaining in his family ever since, it has
covered a mere 22,820 miles in its 57 years to date, as warranted by numerous
service records on file.
Currently owned by Cecil’s
granddaughter, the V5C records three former keepers, all with the same surname.
The original BMC service book has 8 service stamps up to 21,088 miles in
December 1981, all with supporting invoices and all at Castle Garage.
The car was then put into storage where it remained for the next 17
years. In December 2008 it passed an MOT and was very briefly used before being
stored again until November 2013 when it passed another MOT, followed by another
in November 2014. Invoices show that it was also tested to MOT standard in
October 2015 and July 2018 when no certificate was issued, and again in August
2021 when it passed with no advisories, as it usually did in the past.
Other invoices show that it was given a check-over before each MOT by
Autocare of Ross-on-Wye who also fitted a new exhaust system in July 2018 and a
new battery in August 2021. It also had new front seat diaphragms at around the
same time as the originals had perished.
Other documentation includes
the original green logbook, older V5 and V5C and the current V5C. The original
owner’s handbook is also present, along with the original Morris Minor
lubrication chart. It was given an agreed insurance value of £6,000 in December
last year.
As you can see in the photos,
this charming Moggie is in super and highly original condition throughout. We
are told that it has never been restored, just kept in good order with the odd
paint and bodywork touch-up as required. Driven 20 miles to the sale,
it has been starting promptly and running beautifully as we have moved
it around on site.
Cars like this are extremely
hard to find and we are delighted to have it in this sale. A proper little time
capsule, your only dilemma will be to whether to continue to use it and add more
miles to the clock, or tuck it away in a Carcoon as an
investment…
