TR7/V8; Rover V8; fantastic photographic history; featured
on the Top Gear stand at the NEC Classic Car

This TR7 was originally purchased from Mann Egerton, Hereford to a Mr
P.V.Seal in April 1980 who owned the car for two years, covering
just over 26,000 miles.
In 1991 the car made its way to Gateshead and the Rover V8
was fitted. The following year, there is a gap in the MOT history when further restoration was
completed.
In 1994 the now TR7/V8 made its way to Bristol to its next owner and
was subsequently shown on the BBC Top Gear stand at the NEC. From here, its
history is a bit sketchy until our vendor bought the car in 2012 from a Mr
Sherrington near Ross on Wye, who had owned the car from at least
2006.
Our vendor set about restoring the TR7/V8 almost immediately,
with a complete strip down taking place to find the front crossmember
was full of rust - so that became a job to be compelted
first.
The brakes were completely replaced with new vented discs, pads,
master cylinder and servo.
The body itself didn't look too bad until it was all revealed. Quite
a lot of welding was required and subsequently sorted
out.
A new three core radiator was fitted and the cylinder heads
treated to allow smooth unleaded running.
The engine was in good shape and just needed a new timing chain and
cam followers. The carbs were serviced and all set up and
balanced.
All required body work and the respray was carried out by John
Watkins and the upholstery was custom made locally. New carpets were sourced.
All this was done a few years ago now, but the car is still in good
condition.
A history file with 50 plus photos showing the work carried out in
the past are on file plus loads of history and
receipts.
The car was driven here over 30 miles and has been driving and
starting as it should while being on site.
