Description
Entered the 1990 Pirelli Classic Marathon against the likes of Paddy
Hopkirk; finished 8th overall out of 130 starters; HPI shows just threee
owners; FIA certificate issued in 1990; fully commissioned in the last couple of
years; all the must have engine upgrades have been carried
out
Unfortunately the early history has drifted
away over the years, but in the late 80s the car was fully restored including a
pre-1965 shell fitted (due to bad corrosion on the original). It was converted
to the rally car it is today, qualifying for the FIA papers in 1990
(which comes with the car). It appears all while in the ownership of Tom
Turkington (a collector of Mini’s and owner of the Tom Turkington car collection
and museum in Northern Ireland) who used the car for competition
purposes.
DNJ 7C was used in what looks to be several
events, two that were fully covered and featured in Motorsport August 1990,
entering the Pirelli Classic Marathon (AKA The Mini Marathon), going against
people such the legendary Paddy Hopkirk and finishing 8th overall out of
130 starters. It also featured in Mini World magazine September 1999 entering
the 40th Anniversary Rally (Mini In Northern Ireland).
The car seemed to then hang up its racing shoes and went back into
the museum until the collection was disbanded and the car was bought by Thomas
Kyle, also a Mini collector in Northern Ireland.
Our
vendor saw the car advertised years later and could not resist purchasing this
amazing little car for his collection in early 2021. He proceeded to get
the car recommissioned and running and driving after around 20 years being kept
as a show piece.

This car is in impressive condition, driving, starting and stopping as
you would expect an iconic Mini Coopers S should. When buying this car you are
also buying buy a little piece of motorsport history. For showing, collecting,
