Description
Originally supplied to a Shropshire business for tar spraying and road
chipping duties; four-cylinder two-stroke diesel engine; ideal for
shows
First registered in May 1953, copies of factory records on file
confirm the initial Shropshire customer of this FE 4/14 being based fairly
locally to Brightwells, although we imagine she has travelled around a little
since! The Scottish livery on the front hints at that
too…
Showing six
former keepers on the V5C, it has not been with our vendor long, but would
be an ideal addition to any commercial collection or to take to those
forthcoming Spring and Summer shows.
The four-cylinder two-stroke
diesel engine certainly fired up readily on the several occasions that we have
moved the lorry around on site. The gearbox, which includes the super slow
option, will take some getting used to but no problem at all to the seasoned
vintage commercial enthusiast.
The speedo in the centre of the steering
wheel is a quirky feature, designed that way so it would always be just a glance
away for the driver without taking his eyes off the
road.
Possibly not the original rear
body, but it is now fitted with a demountable tipping bed, so a handy bit of
kit.
