Description
Owned by our vendor since 1997 and in regular use; galvanised chassis;
showing only 59,500 miles; overdrive; fitted with original petrol engine and
gearbox; driven to the sale
First registered in February
1980, this Land Rover has been very much loved by our vendor since 1997. Before
that, according to the V5C, there have been eight former keepers, although there
is no paperwork on file pre-1997.
After purchasing the Landy 27
years ago, the first job was the fitting of the galvanized chassis, a new fuel
tank and a fresh set of springs, all completed in 1998. MOT records show it to
have covered approx. 15,000 miles by then. It is not clear whether this was
correct then, but records do clearly show how the speedo has gradually moved on
from there to the current 59,500 miles.
There are bundles of bills on
file showing regular maintenance and MOTs while in the care of our vendor. The
more significant though, include replacement door pillars, welding of bulkhead
corners and replaced footwells in 2005.
More recently, our vendor has
applied the green paintwork himself, there has been another fuel tank fitted in
2020, along with a brake overhaul, new fan belt and renewal of the lights and
electrics.
Most recently, earlier this
year, it had a new battery fitted, fuel filter and hoses renewed, and
a H4 headlight conversion kit fitted.
Driven to the auction from
Hereford under the steam of its original petrol engine, this looks like a handy
bit of kit to have around over the coming winter
months.
