Interesting Swift that's
been nicely re-bodied with the rear part of an Austin 7; running
example; reluctant sale; be different!
Dating from 1927 this Swift 2P
looks to have led an interesting life. Although little is known about the
car’s early history, a note on file from the vendor suggests the car was
converted from a commercial van body to what we see
here.
Rescued by the previous owner,
we understand the original van body had rotted out at the back end (it was
largely timber) and was then treated to a partial re-body, cleverly utilizing an
Austin 7 cabin on top of the original chassis which looks to have survived
remarkably well.
The vendor tells us the car
starts and runs, but 1st gear might need attention (he believes it
might be a damaged pinion) and boasts a more modern radiator which might benefit
from a pump to aid circulation and cooling of what we believe to be the 1190cc
four-cylinder side-valve engine.
It is only reluctantly offered
for sale due to our vendor’s advancing years - at 87, he thinks he might be
pushing it crawling around the underside of a vintage
car.
Offered for sale without
reserve, this unique car looks most appealing and will get people
talking wherever it goes.
