Description
Delightful C4 Drop Head; instant starter; runs nicely; easy to drive;
surprisingly energetic; lovely original French coachwork
The perfect
discovery by our vendor in mid-France in 2014, he simply couldn't
resist the charm and originality of this cute little Amilcar.
It was
spotted tucked away in a classic car restorer's workshop and was quickly snapped
up, the car retaining its delightful factory coachwork which remains both sound
and highly original - even down to its fabric covering.
Looking at the
car, the only obvious sign of restoration is to the front seat, but firing up
and driving the car would suggest a degree of mechanical care has taken place
too, as it starts instantly and pulls surprisingly well, being both light and
easy to manage.
Since arrival in the UK in 2014, it has been correctly
registered with all duties paid, and detail improvements made including a speedo
overhaul, new cable, replacement bearings and a brand new stainless steel tank
to which a new brass filler neck was fitted by The Vintage Car Radiator Company
(the original tank is in the boot).
The Drop Head top works nicely, its
'pram-irons' adding panache. The inside is a particularly nice place to be, open
or closed.
We don't know its early history in France, or how and why it
has survived in such lovely original condition, but it has been used on a number
of VSCC Light Car events and is well-known to the club.
Only for sale due
to a rationalisation of the vendor's sizeable collection, this C4
Amilcar is as pretty as can be and several very active and fun clubs offer
plenty of opportunites to use it both at home and abroad.
