Description
Ex- BRS tractor unit; Gardner 6 LX 150; six-speed David Brown box;
older restoration that is running and driving; great fun
First
registered in December 1962, this 2-axle artic tractor unit has
been comprehensively restored.
The vendor informs us that much of
the chassis was replaced and it has been well painted, although is now nicely
weathered so presumably this was some years ago.
The cab is the handiwork
of Longwell Green Coachworks and is typical of the period, being
part-constructed of glass-fibre.
A plate inside states it was built with
a Gardner 6 LX engine, one of the best of its type and the badge on
the front would suggest the 150bhp model. This is mated to a
six-speed David Brown gearbox driving a Bristol back axle.
Running
and driving upon arrival, the tyres look good and the V5C lists it as
a Historic Vehicle but also eronously as a 15-litre - we think it should be
10.5-litres!!!
In sound order, it looks like a lot of fun for little
outlay, offering a real slice of the 1960's roadscene...
