Description
Restored Truck Cab SIIa on a galvanised chassis; recon engine in 2012
by Turner Engineering; recon gearbox in 2022; tow ball; diff guards; in regular
use - a very smart truck ready for action
This impressive
Series IIa was first registered in November 1964 and lists just four
previous owners on the logbook.
Acquired by the vendor to help fetch and
carry during the restoration of his house, it has served its purpose and is no
longer getting the use he had anticipated, hence it is now up for
grabs.
Purchased last year through John Brown 4x4 in Thirsk, it had
been comprehensively rebuilt on a galvanised chassis and christened
'Wilbur'...
In a standard truck cab layout, it is painted Light Pastel
Green with traditional Limestone wheels. Lots of invoices show the parts
used, which include an SU carburettor conversion, parabolic springs, a Clayton
heater and 12v power socket.
Externally it has a bonnet mounted spare
wheel, diff and steering guard, mud flaps and comes with an immobiliser
switch.
In 2012, it got a reconditioned engine by Turner Engineering, a
reconditioned gearbox by Whitehouse Transmissions in 2022 and recent bills for
UJs and brake parts etc.
The aluminium door tops were supplied
by Rocky Mountain and it has a spare high rise handbrake lever, spare
speedo cable and a removable digital speedo to tell you how fast you are
actually going.
There are seatbelts for the three seats and deluxe
footwell mats and it retains its original 'Banjo' steering wheel.
Other
nice aspects include wing-top mirrors, period plates, free wheeling hubs, rear
grap handles and road-biased tyres to make it nicer to drive - quieter, more
direct and with lighter steering.
Well finished inside and out, with a
recent rear load cover it is MOT'd until December 2024 (although both tax and
MOT exempt) and is ready for work or play.
