Description
Lovely 3.2 finished in Guards Red with pinstripe interior; massive
history file dating back to 1992; engine rebuilt in August 2023 along with
new clutch and brakes at a cost of over £9,000; ready to enjoy
Supplied new by Lancaster Garages Ltd of Norwich in August 1986 and
finished in classic Guards Red this 930 series 911 3.2 coupe absolutely looks
the part, so very '80s and as cool as can be with its black Fuchs alloy wheels
and black rubber lipped ‘Tea-Tray’ rear spoiler.
Under the rear spoiler we find the 3.2-litre flat-six engine,
updated from its 3.0-litre predecessor with increased cc, increased compression
ratio (10.3:1 over 9.8), new inlet manifold, new exhaust system and also fitment
of an L-Jetronic Bosch Motronics 2 DME (Digital Motor Electronics) system which
resulted in an increase in Bhp over the SC model from 204Bhp to 234Bhp driving
the rear wheels via five-speed Type-915 five-speed manual
transmission.
Performance was much improved as
a result with the dash to 60mph recorded at just 5.4 seconds by Autocar
back in the day and a top speed of 150mph.
The 3.2 was available as a Coupe, Targa and
Convertible.
Inside this smart Coupe we
find a two-tone interior with half black vinyl and brown pinstripe interior with
4-way electric seats, electric windows and electric sunroof. The car shows 000,905 miles although we understand it has actually
covered c.198,000 miles (considered to be entirely normal for a 3.2 so good and
usable are they) and has been the subject of considerable recent spend to keep
the car tip top and looking as it does.
The
history file includes the V5C showing just five former keepers (the current
since June 2018, with the last owner keeping the car for 13 years), the Owner’s
pack and service book containing 24 service stamps (with a second continuation
book for continued stamping) and five further stamps for brake fluid/coolant
changes, the last service stamp in March 2004 at 149,995
miles.
The history file also includes some 16
old MOTs dating back to 1992 at 17,729 miles along with the current, valid until
August 2024 recording no advisories.
Invoices on file are numerous and date back to 1992 with regular
maintenance and minor bodywork including replacement wings and sills in 2010
with another replacement wing in 2022, gearbox speed sensor and other works
totalling some £3,238, a replacement speedometer in July 2022 (hence the mileage
shown of 905 miles). New OE oil
pipes back to front and front with thermostat were fitted in 2018 along with new
rear lights in 2019, a new clutch in 2015, new fuel tank in 2003 and complete
engine rebuild in 1998 at 86,987 miles with Mahle pistons costing some £6,553
back then.
Most recently £9,225 was spent on an
engine rebuild by SH Carrera Engineering in August 2023 with all new seals and
gaskets, head stripped, de-coke valves and heads, re-lap valves to seats, skim
and re-assemble inc. valve stem oil seals, new timing chain, new crank shaft
bearing, new clutch, discs and front pads plus rear calliper overhaul.
A
most attractive example of this air-cooled icon that looks and feels
rock solid and is ready for a fortunate new owner to enjoy.
