Supplied new
by TVR agents Fernhurst Motor Co of Haslemere in May 1996, this Chimaera 400 has
the 240bhp 4.0 V8 engine mated to 5-speed manual transmission which gave
it awesome performance when new – 0-60mph in 4.5 seconds with a top speed
of 152mph if you were brave enough!
It has
covered 69,240 miles to date with lots of service history and plenty of old MOTs
to warrant this figure. A good file of invoices show regular upkeep from new,
the bills showing that it has been serviced at least 18 times to date with
various new parts fitted over the years. The front end was repainted by
Fernhurst in 2001 and a Metasystem alarm/immobiliser was fitted in 2008. The
chassis was inspected in October 2004 and found to be in good
shape.
Our vendor acquired the car in March
2022 at which point it had been in storage for the previous nine years. He
promptly sent it to Powers Performance of Coventry for a major service and
check-over which cost £1,674 and it has only covered around 300 miles since. It
also had another minor service in March last year.
As you can see in the photos, it looks very presentable for its
year/mileage with just a few cosmetic blemishes here and there. The paint
on the boot is not as shiny as the rest of the car and the wiring in the
passenger footwell where the battery sits is also exposed and
untidy.
Driven some 90 miles to the sale, it
has an MOT until 16th February 2024 with no advisories recorded and has been
starting promptly and running well as we have moved it around on
site.
