Supplied new by Guy Salmon Jaguar Ltd of
Thames Ditton, Surrey in June 1997, this earlier X100 series of Jaguar XK8
Convertible looks resplendent in Sapphire Blue with matching Blue Mohair
soft-top and sits on its original six-spoke 18” alloy
wheels.
Under the bonnet, we find the 4.0 litre
AJ8 32-valve V8 petrol engine which develops 290bhp and 393NM of torque driving
the rear wheels via five-speed J-gated ZF 5HP24 automatic transmission which
gives the convertible a 0-60mph dash of just 7 seconds.
Inside the cosseting cabin we find 2+2 seating with an Oatmeal
leather interior, traditional walnut trim, electric seat adjustment, electric
soft-top with heated glass rear screen, Sport mode, cruise control, digital
climate control with AC, trip computer, outside temp gauge and the original
radio/cassette player with CD changer in the boot.
The XK8 shows just 60,300 miles and comes to us from six-year
ownership during which time it covered approx. 8,000 miles. The car looks to present well with a
tidy interior and smart exterior, hood, wheels and useful tonneau cover
too.
The history file includes the V5C showing
just four former keepers to our vendor, an old V5C, the owner’s pack and service
booklet recording an impressive 21 stamps all by Jaguar main dealers bar the
last (a local, Hereford independent) in 2017 at 53,136
miles.
The file also includes 18 old MOTs
dating back to 2003 at 30,779 miles, purchase invoice from when our man bought
the car in January 2017 at 51,800 miles along with the current MOT valid until
September 2024 recording no advisories plus a host of maintenance invoices again
dating back to 2002.
Recent invoices of note include two new
tyres in Oct 2021, a £2.982 bill in May 2021 for repairs to corroded chassis
legs and subframe mountings (typical on an XK8), new engine mounts, new brake
flexi hoses, wax oil floor pans and new o/s wheel bearing. A replacement n/s window regulator
and n/s wheel bearing were fitted in 2018, replacement timing chain in 2016
costing £610 at 51,715 miles and a replacement a/c condenser in
2008.
A smart, low mileage, low owner example
in the right colour combination that’s crying out for some regular use on offer
