Description
Interesting late registration example with Ford 4.9 V8, manual 'box
and LSD, removable hard-top, very low mileage example that sounds
fantastic
First registered in May 2009, this
uncommonly late registration AC Ace Brooklands is finished in Red with matching
removable red hard-top, with black Mohair soft-top sitting on a set of 16” grey
faced cross-lace alloy wheels with AC centre caps and looks very muscular
indeed.
An interesting car, with an interesting
story. We are told (also documented in the history file) the car was purchased
from the AC factory in an unassembled form in 2003 by a Mr Martin and is likely
one of the last 12 Series 3
Booklands built with a hi-tech mix of carbon fibre body panels, aluminium doors
and sills mounted to a Reynard designed chassis.
Power comes from a big, fuel injected 4.9 litre (302CUI) crate Ford
Mustang V8 developing c.320bhp driving the rear wheels via five-speed T5 manual
transmission and BTR Hydratrack LSD.
We gather this engine was sourced and fitted in around 2005 with approximately
10,600 miles on it, while the chassis and body have covered just 1,700
miles.
Inside the cockpit, we find magnolia
leather seats piped black, wood dash trim, a leather wrapped steering wheel,
black dash, red carpets, heated seats, Air Con, electric windows, Clarion
radio/CD player and electric mirrors.
The car
looks sensational, with the added bonus of the removable hard-top although the
body shows signs of micro-blistering and a few other cosmetic defects as
pictured.
The history file includes the V5C
showing three former keepers to our vendor who has enjoyed the car sparingly
since his purchase in June 2013, some old tax discs, five old MOTs plus the
current valid until August 2023 with no advisories recorded, a selection of
bills and a file of technical information.
Bills of note on file include a £204 spend on a shock absorber
rebuild in April 2022, replacement slave and master cylinders in May 2019 and
purchase of a new Mohair soft-top in 2013.
Ready to be enjoyed, this is an unusual opportunity to acquire what
already a rare car (c.50 built) and one of the very last on a late registration
with a proper engine and manual box offering visceral, analogue fun from a very
British marque.
