Earlier 4.0 V8 Chim' in an attractive colour scheme showing just
60,289 miles; fresh MOT
Dating from may 1993,
this earlier MkI TVR Chimaera 400 is finished in dark Blue with matching blue
Mohair hood with Targa top and sits on its original 16” five-spoke alloy
wheels.
Under the bonnet sits a fuel
injected 3,952cc Rover V8 engine which developed 240bhp and 366NM of torque when
delivered, driving the rear wheels via five-speed LT77 manual transmission
and offering a 0-60mph dash in just 5.1 seconds and top speed of 152mph
which is pretty good for what was considered the ‘entry model
Chimaera’.
Inside, we find an inviting two-tone
interior with cream seats and blue/cream centre console and door cards with
retrofit aluminium dash trim, electric windows, power steering and the clever
central door release knob.
The car shows just
60,289 miles which is supported by the accompanying history file which includes
the V5C recording eight former keepers to our local vendor, the owner’s handbook
and service section with one at 60,024 miles in November 2022by Fernhurst Motor
Co. TVR specialist along with accompanying purchase invoice for the car at the
same time, at least 12 old MOTs and a selection of invoices including
replacement rear brake pads in January 2023, new Yuassa battery in Feb 2023, new
alternator in 2021, brake master cylinder, HT leads and dizzy cap in
2019.
We also find some images of what look to
be the chassis being restored by RTR TVR specialists of Yorkshire although these
are undated. The current MOT is valid until May 2023 and recorded only one
advisory.
Ready to be enjoyed, this earlier car
looks and sounds the business and no doubt goes like the clappers too. Lots of
fun potential here.
