Highly usable Canvas topped example fitted with a Perkins diesel
engine; much loved, local example
Dating from
October 1964, this appealing old Series IIA looks to have started life as a
snow-plough version of the much loved Land Rover Series
truck.
Presently finished in typical light
green, the 88inch looks well, with a nice time-worn patina so often loved by
their owners and wears a set of later steel wheels with tan canvas top to the
rear.
Under the bonnet, we find a retro-fit
Perkins diesel engine with manual ‘box offering improved torque and performance
for a modern world.
Inside, we find seating for
three with later-style black leatherette seats and a switch under the dash to
turn the engine off. We also note fitment of a battery isolator under the
passenger seat.  A note on file from
the former owner to the current suggested the fuel gauge works back to front
(useful to know!).
The history file includes
the V5C showing six former keepers to our vendor who has enjoyed the vehicle
throughout his tenure, driving it to the sale.  We also find 13 old MOTs plus a
selection of sundry bills for service and maintenance including a service, minor
welding, wax oil and replacement clutch master cylinder in October
2021.
MOT exempt, the last MOT expired in
October 2022 which showed just four minor advisories.  Ready to be enjoyed this truck has much
to offer its next custodian.
