1987 Porsche 944
Later oval-dash 2.5 example
in uncommonly appealing order with useful recent works ready to be
enjoyed
Supplied new in August 1987, this later
model 2.5 litre ‘oval-dash’ 944 comes to us finished in classic Guards Red and
sits on its original 15” Teledial alloy wheels finished in
silver.
Under the bonnet, we find the popular
2.5 litre M44/40 inline four-cylinder petrol engine which developed 161bhp (when
new) driving the rear wheels here via a traditional five-speed manual
transmission.
Inside the cosy cockpit, we find
half black vinyl and brown cloth interior with a partially electric driver’s
seat, removable electric sunroof, electric windows, electric mirrors, digital
clock, power steering, modern JVC face-off radio, heated rear screen and
electric rear wiper.
The car shows 139,980
miles and has been in our vendor’s hands for the last 12 months after inheriting
the car from a family member.
The history file includes the V5C
recording 12 former keepers, a generic service book recording one stamp at
138,911 miles in November 2019 by CMS Porsche plus a second hand written entry
at 139,003 miles in August 2020 including a timing belt service with water pump
and balance shaft belt, PAS belt, and new coolant.
The file also includes a selection of bills for works undertaken
including a £640 spend on refurbished callipers, replacement horn and other
minor works in November 2022 at 139,924 miles by Welsh Porsche Specialist APS
Automotive, a bill for a new DME relay in June 2021, supporting bills for the
timing belt kit in 2020, clutch slave cylinder and four new tyres in 2019, new
starter motor in 2017 plus a few older bills from the early
2000s.
We also find a spare set of keys, one
old MOT and the current valid until November 2023 recording just two minor
advisories for damage to the windscreen (see images) and corrosion to a fuel
pipe.
Certainly one of the tidiest and well
presented 2.5 litre 944’s we have seen for some time, the car looks and sounds
well, evidently having been restored and/or very well cared for in recent years
the car looks ready for some immediate use and enjoyment.
