1954 MG TF1500
Beautifully restored TF in
marvellous order; c.£24,000 spent including new steel shell; five-speed gearbox
upgrade for easier crusing in modern traffic
A
stunning example dating from 1955 that has been the subject of a £24,000
restoration carried out by the 1st UK owner including new steel
shell, a fully rebuilt engine with lead free conversion, a replacement
five-speed Ford Type-9 gearbox, new 60-spoke wire wheels, new Mohair hood, full
respray in British Racing Green, stainless exhaust and head light upgrade along
with a full re-trim.
Imported from the States
in October 2015 through New York, but coming from a dealer in Missouri the car arrived in the UK as a LHD black
car with green trim and biscuit hood, which has been verified by the BMI
Heritage Trust (supporting certificate in the file). Following restoration the car was UK
registered in 2018.
Our vendor has owned the
car since 2019 but unfortunately has not been able to give it the use he
had hoped due to health problems, the car being used only sparingly on dry days
but predominantly kept stored in a heated garage.
The file of history includes the V5C showing just one former
UK owner prior to our vendor, a USB memory stick full of images of the
restoration and considerable number of bills including for purchase of a new
steel body complete with scuttle and doors from The Hutson Motor Co. Ltd of West
Yorkshire which cost £7,182 in February 2016, bill for engine rebuild parts at
over £1,000 by Owslebury Crankshaft Service of Hants in June and July 2016,
five-speed gearbox conversion kit with re-con Type-9 box and clutch costing
£2083 in August 2016.
The bills come thick and
fast with fortunes being spent on parts and the results speak for themselves –
what a pretty example which has been starting promptly
and running beautifully as we have moved it around on site.
