1983 Ford Sierra XR4i
Only 61,907 miles
indicated; recommissioned in 2018 after 28 years in a private collection; one of
only c.760 still UK registered; appealing example of this increasingly
collectable model
Supplied new to Northern
Ireland in September 1983 this smart white Ford Sierra comes to us in desirable,
and now very collectible XR4i guise.
In
three-door hatch spec with bi-plane rear spoiler the car oozes 80’s cool with
pepper pot alloy wheels, red coach lines contrasting against the white paint
work and grey plastic lower trim/bumpers and the undeniable good looks of the
mark 1 Sierra on its side, its no surprise this model has become sought
after.
Under the long bonnet, we find the
2792cc Cologne V6 engine with mechanical Bosch K-Jetronic fuel injection which
developed 148bhp driving the rear wheels here via five-speed manual
transmission.
Inside, we find grey cloth seats,
with groovy digital display for open doors etc, sunroof, manual windows, heated
rear screen, front and rear fog lights, digital and analogue clocks and cassette
storage plus original radio/cassette player.
The car shows just 61,907 miles, the history file including the
original Northern Ireland registration document, several old Irish NCT
certificates dating back to the early 90s suggesting the mileage to be correct,
UK V5C recording two former keepers (the current since July 2018 when our vendor
bought the car from Brightwells), current clean MOT valid until April 2023 and
few bills for reconditioned metering unit and warm-up regulator dated September
2018 totalling £680 and another dated October 2018 for a rolling road tune up,
replacement of belts and clean of the throttle body (the car made
137bhp).
A final bill for a re-commissioning
following time in a private collection prior to our vendor’s purchase in April
2018 included a clean out and repair to the fuel tank, repair to fuel gauge
sender unit, new fuel pump and filter, new fuel pipes, new battery, free-up of
brakes, new brake pipes and other minor sundry works totalling
£1,173.
Ready to be enjoyed, this is a tidy
example of a most appealing and collectible model sure to continue to rise in
value and increase in scarcity.
