1960 MGA 1600 Coupe

Reserve
Untouched for many years; in need of complete
restoration
What a find!
This lovely but rather sad MGA was first registered in London in
March 1960. Remaining in the south for all of its life until now, it appears to
have been on the road and put though MOTs until approximately 1980 when it was
laid up in a rather dilapidated shed.
This
particular model is one of the first 1600s and in arguably the better looking
coupe format.
In total, it appears to have had
about seven owners over its life and although 1129 VW is no longer recognised by
the DVLA, it is still showing on the car and a copy of the old logbooks are all
on file.
There are bundles of old invoices on
file too from the 1970s which does make an interesting read although are not
necessarily relevant to the jobs that now need doing.
It is definitely a job worth doing and the chassis is actually not
as bad as it first looks. The engine bay and interior appear to have been
lived in by local wildlife over the years, so a thorough restoration is needed
but with parts for such cars readily available, all you need is some space and
patience isn’t it?
