1998 Lexus LS400
No Reserve
Two-owner 2nd
gen facelift example from long term ownership showing just 74,413 miles with
massive spec and equally massive history
Supplied
new by Pinewood Motor Co. Ltd of London in March 1998, this beacon of Toyota’s
ability and technological prowess, the mighty LS400 is finished in Cashmere Gold
and sits upon its original and imposing 16” polished face alloy
wheels.
Under the large bonnet, we find the
whisper quiet yet surprisingly agile and potent 4.0 litre DOHC 32-valve 1UZ-FE
V8 engine with VVTi which in this face-lifted example develops a mighty 290bhp
and 407NM of torque driving the rear wheels via four-speed automatic
transmission.
Inside the typically functional
and commodious cabin, we find acres of mushroom leather, walnut trim, digital
climate control, cruise control, touchscreen in-car entertainment (in 1998!)
with navigation, heated electric seats with lumbar adjustment, stability
control, digital clock with outside temp gauge, automatic lights with head lamp
wash, cruise control, electric mirrors, driver’s seat memory and electric
sunroof.
This super example has covered just
74,413 miles in the hands of just two owners, the current (our vendor) has
enjoyed the car since 2014 taking it on several European trips during which the
care performed effortlessly and without fault.
The file also includes the owner’s pack and service book recording
an impressive 18 stamps (plus three further hand-written entries in 2010, 2013
and 2015), the last of which was in August 2022 at 74,137 miles by Whitchurch
MOT centre.
The file also includes invoices in
support of the servicing and maintenance of the car dating back to 1999 at 6,002
miles, many of which look to be by Toyota/Lexus main dealers including a
replacement timing belt by Lexus Carlisle in 2006 at 28,366
miles.
Most recently, the car has been treated
to an underside wax-oil treatment in October this year ahead of the sale to
conserve the underside with winter looming, and earlier this year in August, the
front discs and pads were replaced in addition to the service noted above. A new
battery was also fitted in April of this year.
We also find at least seven old MOTs plus the current, valid until
May 2023 recording six minor advisories (enter the reg at
check-mot.service.gov.uk).
Ready to be enjoyed,
these LS400’s were considered one of the best cars in the world in period and
this example looks most appealing given its only two owners, 74,413 miles and on
offer at No Reserve.
