2005 Alfa Romeo Spider JTS Lusso
(916)
Appealing late model Type-916 Spider in 2.0 litre 16v
Lusso spec showing 83,000 miles with recent £492 spend on new brakes all
round
Dating from July 2005 this late model Alfa
Romeo Spider (Typ 916) hails from the later post-2003 facelift known as the
Phase 3 cars and from the final year of production (2004) in which just 824
Spider JTS’s were built (according to Pininfarina’s production data) with unsold
stock sold on into 2005.
Finished in Silver
with contrasting black Mohair hood and sat on its original 16” multi-spoke alloy
wheels, the car looks well, its angular and striking Pininfarina design dating
well.
Under the bonnet, we find the 2.0 litre
four-cylinder engine in JTS Lusso spec pumping out 163bhp and 206NM of torque,
enough to propel the 2-seat rag-top to 60mph in 8.4 seconds and on to a top
speed of 137mph – on par with its rivals, if not better.
Inside the cosy cabin, we find black leather seats, electric
windows, electric mirrors, automatic climate control with AC, traction control,
front fog lights and here, the optional electric roof. The vendor advises us the electric
operation of the roof has been temperamental and intermittent. We have not had the roof working since
the car has been with us. The car shows 80,272 miles
and presents largely well with some marks as pictured consummate with its age
and usage.
The history file includes the V5C
recording eight former keepers to the vendor who purchased the car for his wife
last summer. The book pack is present, including the service book which
reveals five stamps, the last in January 2017 at 75,000 miles by Sussex Alfa
Romeo and looks to have included a replacement timing belt and water pump as
noted next to their stamp. An invoice on file shows a more recent cambelt change
at 79,450 in November 2020 by Alfatec. The geabox oil was changed in March 2021
- invoices on file.
Furthermore, the history
file also includes an invoice for a recent £492 spend at A Capozzoli & Sons
Alfa Specialists of Ilchester in July 2022 at 80,270 miles for MOT and
associated work including new discs and pads for the front and rear plus rear OS
anti-roll bar link. We also find
three old MOT certificates plus the current, valid until July 2023 which
recorded six minor advisories (enter the reg online at
check-mot.service.gov.uk).
