1968 Mini Cooper Mk2

Extensively restored in 2000 and only covered 6,500 miles since; cracking example with only five previously recorded keepers


This very tidy Cooper was first registered in 1968 and although there are no early invoices for maintenance until 1985, the green logbook records three keepers during this time. It then passed on to its fourth owner in Wolverhampton, who regularly maintained it, as shown by the countless invoices on file from the Mini Spares Centre. This included new left and right hand side wings, numerous heritage panels and an extensive amount of nuts, bolts and instruments.  
It seems that the car was then sold on in 1999 to a retired development engineer who took over the restoration and completed most of the work himself which produced the car you see before you today. He owned the car for the next 15 years, having every detail looked into, including the engine and gearbox being rebuilt, a refurbished Hydrolastic system, new brakes and suspension etc.  
The Tartan Red body and black roof were professionally repainted and the seats professionally retrimmed in black leather. In 2011 and 2014, two respective insurance valuations took place, one described it as being in ‘mint’ condition, the later one stating it had been ‘restored to a high standard throughout’, testament to the quality completed work.  
Our vendor then acquired the car seven years ago, when only 5500 miles had been covered since the restoration. As you can see in the pictures, the car is still in excellent condition throughout, has covered only another 1000 miles since and has regularly been put through an MOT. Having the care it deserves, NAW 405G has been garaged for much of this time. The current MOT took place in April this year and showed no advisories. Driven to our site for the auction, it shouldn’t have any problems being driven away too.  
This car has been much loved for many years and has been extensively restored to a cracking standard so with MkII values closing in fast on the MkI, it could be a fantastic opportunity to purchase at the suggested estimate.
