Supplied new
by Milford Motor Company of Liverpool in March 1965, this Daimler V8 250 comes
with a very large history file extending right back to the early 1970s. This
includes records of all six owners plus no fewer than 32 old MOTs back to 1973
and many dozens of maintenance invoices.
Properly looked after throughout its life, it seems that
the engine was removed and overhauled in 1994 and it has received
innumerable new parts since, including the fitment of electronic ignition,
halogen headlamps, alternator charging and chrome wire wheels. The bodywork was
restored and repainted in June 2012 at a cost of well over £14,000 including new
front wings, front door skins, rear spats, crow’s feet etc.
Our vendor acquired the car via Brightwells in 2015 from a
gentleman who had owned it for the previous 10 years and had used it regularly
on club outings and tours. During his six-year ownership the vendor has had the
car serviced annually at MOT time, regardless of the mileage covered, the last
service being carried out in July 2020 (including new front brake pads) since
when the car has only covered some 90 miles, the odometer currently showing
90,173 miles. Four new tyres were fitted in April 2018 at 89,442 miles and the
gearbox was rebuilt just under 1,000 miles ago in May 2017 at a cost of
£2,341.
Starting promptly and running well as we have moved it
around on site, with good 40psi oil pressure when warm, it comes with an MOT
until August 2021 with no advisories recorded. As good underneath as it is up
top and with a nicely mellowed interior, this characterful and well-historied
Daimler is ready for a new owner to enjoy.
