1996 BMW 525i Touring (E34)

Late model E34 2.5 straight-six with manual gearbox; 4 owners with lots of history inc. 18 service stamps; DAB radio

Delivered new in March 1996 by Heathrow Ltd BMW to its first of just four owners, this attractive and now very rare E34 generation 5-series comes to us in 525i Touring form. It is powered by the excellent 141bhp 2.5-litre straight-six cylinder petrol engine, driving through the desirable 5-speed manual transmission and of course rear-wheel drive.

Finished in Orient Blue and sitting on original 15" crosslace alloy wheels, it is trimmed on the inside with grey cloth interior and walnut trim. This nice old car has covered 139,660 miles - a walk in the park for BMW six-pots. Unusually, this example features a full length sliding metal sunroof which as the vendor has explained has suffered a malfunction with the cable rather than the electric motor so has been left shut with tape over the switch.

The eagle eyed among you may notice the addition of a HUD unit on the dash, permitting one's speed to be projected onto a small receptor on the windscreen - this is due to the speedo recently becoming unreliable (Honestly Officer!) and faltering although the odometer works as normally.

The car also features a more up-to date DAB radio, and in the boot the vendor has kindly included an unused, set of mudflaps still in their packaging and a useful set of roof bars should you wish to carry anything large up top.

As for history, the car boasts a folder including V5C and service book showing an impressive 18 service stamps inc. PDI, the last at 139,608 miles - but a few miles ago. We also have a further 4 stamps recorded for brake fluid and coolant changes, the last in 2016 at 115,495 miles.

A host of invoices on file show regular maintenance including recent major service including plugs, brake fluid change, shockers, coil spring, brake hoses and flexi hoses at a cost of £1,313.60. In September it was treated to a repair to the o/s front sill, and o/s lower wing and £306 in January 2020 on new coils and replacement fuel pipe. Further recent work includes new tail gate struts and a wheel bearing in the last 24 months with older service and maintenance records dating back until the late 90's.

In addition to the above, we also have an old V5, some 16 old MOT certificates, current ticket until November 2021 with no advisories recorded, the original first aid kit and tool kit and spare too.

A great history file accompanying a nice old car in good usable order with a manual box, rear wheel drive and a legendary BMW 6-pot all at No Reserve, how very enticing!
