1966 Morris Minor Tourer
Genuine factory built
model; older restoration in lovely condition all round; recent repaint and many
new parts
First registered in March 1966, this factory-built Morris
Minor Tourer has had just four former keepers according to the V5C and has been
in the current ownership since 1990, although regrettably it comes to the sale
as an indirect result of proceedings in the family law courts.
Although there is precious little history with the car, we
are reliably informed that it was fully restored by Minor specialists Charles
Ware of Bristol at some point in the not-too-distant past and, as you can see in
the photos, it remains in excellent condition today. We are further told that it
was repainted about a year ago following a dozen years in storage, other
recommissioning work including a reconditioned gearbox, new clutch, all new
brakes (servo, master and slave cylinders, pipes, hoses etc), new water pump,
new battery plus much else besides.
An old MOT shows that the odometer was reading 3,492 miles
in 2008 since when it has covered only 800 miles, the clock currently showing
4,288 miles which may perhaps be the distance it has covered since the
restoration was completed. The underside is exceptionally clean and tidy so it
has clearly not ventured too far in recent times at least.
Starting promptly and running beautifully as we moved it
around for these photos, it has that classic feeling of robust simplicity and
spritely performance which has been delighting Moggie owners since the model was
first launched over 70 years ago. The fact that so many Minors remain in regular
use to this day tells you all you need to know about what a great little car it
is.
