1993 TVR Chimeara 4.0

Subject to a major body-off restoration with new outriggers, chassis recondition and engine rebuild costing some £8,000

Dating from August 1993, this earlier 4.0 Chimaera is finished in an eye-catching hue with contrasting magnolia leather interior. Our vendor, the eighth owner has been custodian since April 2014 and bought the car hoping to enjoy some summer use with some tinkering thrown in. Unfortunately, he soon discovered the out-riggers were shot and so set about a major, and comprehensive body-off restoration. This took him most of his ownership, with actual road use limited to only 152 miles in all this time! The odometer has been largely unreadable since 2006 when it last showed 69,411 miles. The MOT history shows the car to have been off the road from 2008 until our vendor had purchased and completed the restoration and presented for MOT in 2018, and again for its current ticket which runs to February 2021 with no advisories recorded. The history folder contains the V5C and invoices totalling c.£8,000 for works undertaken in the restoration of the car along with photographs of the process. The works include but are not limited to body-off and re-paint, permitting renewal of the out-riggers and chassis repair, shot-blast and re-coat in specialist rust inhibitor then top-coated. The engine was also stripped and the crank re-ground with new piston rings, camshaft and more. A new starter motor was also installed along with new clutch-kit, new engine and gearbox mounts, new blue silicone hoses, steel water hoses, steering knuckles and joints, expansion bottle, brake callipers discs and pads. The car’s interior received new carpets, the seats restored, a battery isolator installed along with charge/jump socket and a nice age related private plate as shown is included to top it off. The car is begging to be used and enjoyed, whether with the soft-top up, or with the Targa panel removed or fully open – ideal to hear the infamous TVR V8 sound and experience the vivid acceleration potential from these light-weight British bruisers.
