A one-owner machine with just 8,776 miles
from new; a local bike to recommission; engine turns with compression;
remarkably original Honda CD185 twin cylinder
Finished in its original blue
paintwork and showing just 8,777 miles, this remarkably original Honda CD185
twin cylinder has had just one owner from new and comes complete with its
old-style log book. Supplied new by Mead & Tomkinson of Hereford, the bike
remains a wonderfully unmolested example and even retains its original
registration plate complete with the supplying dealer's sticker, a rare
surviving detail that adds greatly to its authenticity and
charm.
Registered new on 24 October 1978, this 180cc
twin-cylinder machine has clearly been cherished throughout its life. To
preserve the fuel system during storage, the owner filled the tank with
two-stroke oil mixture, helping to keep the interior free from rust. The engine
turns over freely with good compression, further suggesting that this should be
a straightforward recommissioning project. The bike has not been modified and
presents as an honest, highly original survivor.
While some light recommissioning should be
expected before returning to regular road use, it appears to offer a rewarding
and relatively straightforward project for the Honda enthusiast or collector.
Accompanying paperwork includes the old-style log book, with the registration
number still recorded on the DVLA database, together with the original
instruction manual and keys.
A rare opportunity to acquire a genuine,
low-mileage Honda from the late 1970s, retaining many of the features and
details so often lost over the years. A charming survivor with excellent
originality, attractive provenance and just one private owner from
new.
