Showing 55,203
miles; charming 1952 Land Rover Series I 80-inch; spent the last 35 years in dry
barn storage; starting and driving on site
Finished in black
with a canvas tilt, this charming 1952 Land Rover Series I 80-inch is an
increasingly scarce early home-market example. Chassis number 26101827
identifies it as a right-hand-drive, petrol-engined Basic model built for the UK
market, powered by the correct 1,595cc four-cylinder petrol engine and retaining
the unmistakable character that established Land Rover's reputation around the
world.
Showing
55,203 miles, the Land Rover has spent the last 35 years in dry barn storage,
emerging as an honest and highly original survivor that wears its years with
considerable charm. Having stood for such an extended period, we supplied an
external fuel source and electrical feed whilst on site and are pleased to
report that the engine fired into life readily. For the purposes of our video,
an external fuel supply was connected, and the Land Rover proceeded to drive
around the Brightwells sale yard with little persuasion.
Whilst it
displayed admirable enthusiasm for moving forwards, the braking system was
somewhat less committed, offering more of a polite suggestion than any genuine
stopping power. Prospective purchasers should therefore regard the vehicle as
requiring sensible recommissioning or restoration before any return to regular
road use.
The
Land Rover is offered with its canvas tilt and presents as an increasingly rare
opportunity to acquire an early 80-inch Series I that has not been over-restored
or heavily altered from its original form. Prospective purchasers should note
that a passenger door is not fitted and is not included with the
vehicle.
Wearing
the numberplate UFX 694, however the vendor currently can't locate any paperwork
for the vehicle, should any come available then It will be passed
on.
Early
80-inch Series I Land Rovers continue to attract strong interest amongst
collectors and enthusiasts alike, particularly examples displaying such evident
originality and honesty. Whether preserved in its current state or treated to
sympathetic recommissioning, this appealing Land Rover offers huge potential and
represents an evocative piece of Britain's post-war motoring
heritage.
An
honest and remarkably original 1952 Series I 80-inch Land Rover, fresh from 35
years of dry barn storage, running and driving with minimal intervention and
offering an increasingly rare opportunity to acquire one of the most iconic
early Land Rovers in largely untouched
condition.
