Offered here with no reserve; showing 110,300 miles and five former
keepers; running and driving but does need some attention
Introduced in
1993, the W202 C-Class marked the beginning of a new era for Mercedes-Benz,
replacing the long-serving 190E with a more refined, safer and better-equipped
executive saloon. Renowned for their solid engineering and comfortable driving
manners, these early C-Class models have become increasingly appreciated as
usable modern classics.
This C180 Elegance was originally supplied by
Hills of Shrewsbury and benefits from an impressively well-documented early
service history. The accompanying service book records maintenance carried out
by Mercedes-Benz and specialist garages in Shrewsbury, Worcester and Abberley,
with a total of 15 recorded services taking the car to around 60,000 miles by
2006.
Now showing 110,300 miles, the Mercedes remains a running and
driving example, although it has inevitably picked up the wear and tear expected
of a car that has seen regular use over the past three decades. The bodywork
displays various cosmetic blemishes, including corrosion around the front wheel
arch, paint damage to the front bumper and further age-related marks, all of
which are clearly shown in the accompanying photographs. The interior remains
complete and generally presentable, retaining the comfort and understated
quality for which these cars are known.
The car was last MOT tested in
2024, passing with a number of advisory items. Prospective bidders are therefore
encouraged to consult the MOT history online and satisfy themselves as to the
work that may now be required.
Offered without reserve, this is an honest, usable W202
that starts, runs and drives, providing an affordable entry into Mercedes-Benz
ownership. Whether recommissioned as dependable everyday transport, preserved as
an increasingly scarce early C-Class or simply enjoyed as an inexpensive modern
classic, it represents excellent value and a rewarding project for the next
custodian.
