Just two owners in the last 36 years; only 57k miles indicated; always
garaged; recently recommissioned and serviced; new fuel tank; highly original;
one of the last GTs made
First registered in August
1980, this MGB GT must be among the last ones made as production came to an end
in October of that year after a highly successful 18-year run during which time
around 500,000 MGBs of all types had been sold.
Sadly there is very
little history with the car although there are four old MOTs which show that it
had covered 49,906 miles by 1988 and 56,994 miles by 2003 so the current
indicated mileage of 57,027 miles is more than likely
correct.
Our vendor acquired the car
via Brightwells in September 2022 at which point it had been owned by a Ludlow
gent for the previous 32 years but he had barely ever driven it, keeping it
tucked away in a nice dry garage. When our vendor bought the car, it had not
been driven for 20 years and was in need of
recommissioning.
In October 2022 he sent it to
Motor Sport of Ross-on-Wye who gave the car a thorough service and
recommissioning before submitting it for an MOT which it passed with just a few
advisories which you can look up online, the bill for this lot coming to £1,007.
In February 2023 it went back to Motor Sport for a new fuel tank and sender
which cost £437 (see photos).
Sadly our vendor is no longer
in the best of health so he has been unable to use the car much, hence its
appearance in this sale. As you can see in the photos, this low-mileage GT looks
to be in highly original condition and is in good shape for a 46-year-old. It
has been starting promptly and running well as we have moved it around on site,
with healthy 60psi oil pressure.
What it really needs is an
enthusiastic new owner who can give it the more regular exercise it deserves
after so many years of inactivity.
