One former keeper Celica GT4 Turbo 4WD and
a Celica GT4 Turbo 4WD Carlos Sainz Edition; rare
projects
Offered here as a project pair, we have two
Toyota Celica GT-Four models: one a standard
GT-Four Turbo 4WD, the other the highly
desirable GT-Four Turbo 4WD Carlos Sainz Edition.
Both are offered as seen and represent an increasingly rare opportunity for
restoration or for creating one good car from the two, with parts to
spare.
The first
car, G4 KRB, was first registered in November 2000 and is finished in metallic
grey. It comes with its V5C, showing just one former keeper. At some point the
cylinder head was removed for maintenance work, but the job was never completed,
and the head is now missing. The car has remained off the road since, though it
rolls freely for loading, and is recorded as HPI clear.
The second car, J779 MLX, dates from
March 1992 and is the sought-after Carlos Sainz Limited Edition,
this example being number 2,576 of only 5,000 produced worldwide. Its provenance
is supported by both the original certificate and the dashboard plaque. This car
has a good deal of paperwork and the service books are pictured. However
unfortunately, the car has suffered what can best be described as a thermal
event, requiring the fire brigade to remove the bonnet. No insurance claim was
ever made, and it too remains HPI clear. As the photographs show, it is very
much a project.
Over the years the vendor has amassed a
collection of additional spares. These are not included in the sale, but an
introduction to the vendor can be arranged for the successful bidder should they
wish to negotiate separately.
A rare chance to acquire two GT-Four projects at once – ideal for the enthusiast seeking a
rewarding winter restoration or the opportunity to build one good car from the
pair.
