MOT
Coach-built by Nilsson Karosserifabrik
of Sweden, this rare 2002 Volvo S80 Limousine represents a fascinating and
increasingly collectible chapter of Volvo’s Special Vehicles programme. Nilsson,
a highly respected Swedish coachbuilder, worked closely with Volvo to transform
the S80 saloon into professional funeral vehicles, and their craftsmanship is
well regarded among specialists and collectors alike.
Finished in understated silver, the car is based on the Volvo S80
platform and combines practicality with the clean, restrained Scandinavian
design for which Volvo is renowned. Power is provided by a 2922cc petrol engine,
and the car has covered 78,970 miles from new. It has had four former keepers
and was driven on site for photography and video, during which it started,
stopped, and ran correctly.
First registered in
June 2002, the Limousine is supplied with a fresh 12-month MOT, valid until
January 2026. Although the service history has unfortunately been mislaid over
the years, the car passed its MOT only days ago with no advisories, offering
reassurance as to its current condition.
Nilsson-built Volvo hearses and limousines are an important part of
the marque’s coach-built heritage and are now becoming sought after as
distinctive classics with genuine specialist provenance. Notably, a matching
Volvo S80 Hearse by the same coachbuilder is also offered in the auction as Lot
414, presenting a rare opportunity to acquire a complementary
pair.
