2.8-litre Cologne V6 engine;
Janspeed manifolds and exhaust; fast road upgrades
The 1983 Ford
Capri 2.8 Injection was a performance icon of its era, blending muscle car
styling with European handling. Powered by a 2.8-litre Cologne V6 engine with
Bosch K-Jetronic fuel injection, it delivered 160 BHP and a top speed of around
130 mph.
The model featured a five-speed gearbox, sport suspension, and
Recaro seats, making it a driver-focused coupe. Its aggressive looks—complete
with quad headlights and alloy wheels—cemented its cult status.
This
example was first registered in October 1983 and with the current owner since
2021 and showing only 98,657 miles, and dry stored since 1997.
The
previous owner had started to convert it into a track day car. With a new
Janspeed exhaust, manifolds, the suspension was poly bushed and lowered, the
original springs are in the boot. When the vendor took ownership, they replaced
the steering rack along with the brake servo in preparation for its advisory
free MOT in April 2023 where the inspector commented on the corrosion free
underside.
Currently there is no headliner fitted and the seats are
showing a few signs of wear being 42 years old but given the corrosion free
condition of the body shell it could easily be restored to original
specification or continue with the fast road – track day theme.
