1966 Morris Mini-Minor Mk I
Recent
sympathetic restoration; matching numbers; in super condition
throughout
As the
Heritage Certificate confirms, this Mini-Minor was built in June 1966 with Tweed
Grey paint and a Tartan Red interior, being sold new via Wellsteeds of Newport,
Gwent.
It has had just two former keepers,
according to the V5C, our vendor acquiring the car in 2018 as a light
restoration project. Bodywise the car needed very little other than the
inner A panels, driver's side hinge panel, sill panels, jacking hole
supports and rear valance panel, the vendor reporting that the rest of the
bodywork appears to be original. The brightwork was replaced or
rechromed as necessary and the whole car repainted to a good standard in the
original Tweed Grey.
A good file of invoices
show that various new parts have been fitted: wiring loom; brake drums; clutch
kit; engine mountings; water pump; front ball joints; suspension bushes; tyres;
windscreen; inertia reel seat belts; battery plus much else besides. The
interior has also been fully retrimmed in the original Tartan Red. The engine is
original to the car, making this a ‘matching numbers’ machine. This was removed
from the car, cleaned and serviced, the vendor reporting that it drives well and
there are no oil leaks.
As you can see in the
photos, the Mini now looks very smart indeed and has been starting promptly and
running nicely as we have moved it around on site, with good 60psi oil pressure.
