Description
1975 Jensen Interceptor III Series 4
Reputedly
in single family ownership from new; Canadian import for straightforward
restoration
Launched in
1966, the Interceptor catapulted Jensen straight into the upper echelons of the
supercar firmament – never mind Milan, Modena and Stuttgart, here comes West
Bromwich!
An intoxicating mix of Italian style,
American muscle and British craftsmanship, the hand-built Interceptor was
initially powered by a 6,276cc Chrysler V8 driving the rear wheels through a
TorqueFlite automatic transmission and had dragster-like performance. By 1971
the engine had grown to 7.2-litres and there were few cars in the world that
could stay with it in a straight line or match it for
refinement.
Built in April 1975 for the export
market, this particular Interceptor III Series 4 was bought new by a Toronto
gentleman in August 1975 and remained in his family (passing through his
daughter and his son-in-law) until being exported back to the UK by our vendor
in December 2020.
On offer here as a
straightforward restoration project, we are told that the engine turns over
easily and appears to have good compression. The car is complete and comes with
the exhaust manifolds and stainless steel down-pipes which have yet to be
fitted. It retains its original owner’s handbook and service book which has two
stamps at 1,935 miles in September 1975 and at 4,993 miles in November 1975. Two
sets of keys are also present.
Not yet UK
registered, it does have a Canadian Certificate of Title and a NOVA reference to
show that all duties have been paid. Only reluctantly for sale because the
vendor has too many other projects on the go, it is being offered here at a
sensible guide price which leaves ample scope for the remedial works
required.
