Classic 200 series 2.3 automatic 3-owner
example showing just 107,818 miles in exemplary order with full black leather;
Volvo Enthusiast Club National 2020 gathering Winner of 'Best 200
series'
Delivered new in March 1991 by John Morris
Motors Limited of Ulceby, this time-warp example of the venerable and popular
Volvo 240 GL estate is powered by the 2.3 litre inline B230 series 4-cylinder
petrol engine driving the rear wheels via 3-speed automatic transmission with
O/D.
Finished in silver this attractive example retains its original
flat-faced 15-slot wheels and inside we find almost unmarked black leather
interior with supremely comfortable heated front seats, heated rear screen,
front fog lights and traditional red seat belt warning flasher, Pioneer
radio/cassette and electric front windows.
Showing just 107,818 miles
which is considered low for these mile munchers – many have clocked up well over
400,000km in Sweden with consummate ease. Within the history file, we find the
V5C showing just 2 former keepers (the first owned it some 27 years!) to our
current Volvo enthusiast owner of 3 years who has lavished time and money on the
car restoring the car to its current state using Volvo trained mechanics who
knew where they were at with the car. The vendor advises us the handbrake has
recently failed, he has sourced one in Germany and its enroute.
Invoices
on file show recent spend on new ignition heads and plugs, replacement boot
struts, repair to the rear diff speed sensor wiring, new radiator and repair to
seat heaters, replacement dizzy cap and rotor arm, lube service in July 2020,
head lamp reflectors, rocker cover gasket plus repairs to the floor and sill
with paint rectification to the bonnet, front wings, tailgate and rear quarter
panels and annual service costing £1315 in October 2020.
A second sheaf
of invoices incudes evidence of a timing belt service in April 2018 with other
maintenance and parts invoices on file dating back to the early 90s. A wad of 25
old MOTs date back to 1994 at which time the car had covered just 16,640 miles
plus current ticket valid to 24th July 2021 the vendor running out
time to put a fresh MOT on the car before a vacation prior to the sale. The last
MOT recorded no advisories.
We also find the owner’s pack and stamped
service section revealing 16 stamps, the last stamp October 2000 at 33,786 miles
and certificate for Winner of the Best 200 Series national gathering in 2020 by
the Volvo Enthusiast Club, sponsored by Lancaster Insurance which is a nice
accolade to have with this smart car. To round off, we also have the original
bill of sale for £14,785.
Bar a new MOT, the car is ready to be enjoyed
and we expect the bidding to be vigorous given its low mileage, 3-owner status,
recent expenditure and of course its condition. It is on offer at No
Reserve, so the highest bid takes it home. Get cracking.
