Bold, eye-catching
2.2 Turbo S4 showing 75,074 miles with impressive history
Dating
from August 1994 this striking Esprit series 4 features the 2.2 litre
four-cylinder turbocharged engine, mid-mounted for ideal weight distribution,
rear wheel drive and driven through a 5-speed manual 'box.
This example,
quite the eye-catcher in its yellow and green livery has undergone a colour
change recorded with DVLA from British Racing Green to Yellow in July 2012
although the green theme has been maintained with green painted 5-spoke alloy
wheels, rear wing and stripes.  Our vendor has enjoyed the car over the
last 5 years covering c.5,000 miles in this time and is the 11th owner of this
264bhp rocket-ship.
Inside we see the usal array of hand stitched
leather, with additional after market carbon trim and quilted leather adorning
various edges and panels in the cockpit.
The history file includes the
V5C, an impressive 18 old MOTs plus current clean MOT running until August 2021,
owners manual and service book with 14 stamps showing it was supplied new in
July 1994 by White Dove Garages Ltd of Cardiff, registered M969HTX. There are
some 13 service stamps plus 2 further hand written entires, the last by Esprit
Engineering, Lotus specialist in December 2012 at 69,000 miles. An additional
entry suggests the timing belt and tensioner was changed at 63,500 miles in
2011.
A file of invoices within the history file include a new fuel pump
in April 2020, new calipers in October 2018, a more recent lube service inc. new
track rod ends in may 2017, a repair to the fuel tank and new breather pipe in
March 2015. Another, undated 3-page invoice reveals the bidy was removed annd
various replacement parts fitted including new brake pipes, body mount bolts,
powder coating of suspension parts and replacement rear shocks fitted.  In
relation to this work, related parts invoices on file suggest this work was
done through the summer of 2017.
In another selection of invoices we find
evidence of a timing belt and tensioner change in June 2014 along with new in
tank fuel pump and injectors by Esprit Engineering at a cost of £1,159,
fitment of a Quicksilver exhaust and recon charge cooler pump in 2013 at a
cost of £819. We also see a purchase receipt for some £876 euros for a blow off
valve, performance clutch, exhaust back pressure switch and stainless braided
clutch line.
In addition to the file of invoices we also see a selection
of original sales brochures for the S4, purchase receipts, historic data checks
and Lotus Esprit World Freescan manual version 1 with box of cables
etc.
An attractively priced Esprit S4 with scope for minor cosmetic
improvement (chips to the paint, pictured) that offers proper sports car
credentials with super car looks and very good history file.
