Few motorcycles embody Ducati's sporting heritage quite so
effectively as the SuperSport. Styled by the renowned Pierre Terblanche, the SS
range successfully carried forward one of the most famous names in motorcycling,
blending Ducati's traditional air-cooled V-twin character with modern
reliability, fuel injection and everyday usability.
First registered in
June 1999, this Ducati 900SS is powered by the legendary 904cc air-cooled,
two-valve-per-cylinder L-twin engine, producing around 80bhp and delivering the
strong mid-range performance and charismatic soundtrack that have long made
Ducati twins so desirable. Featuring fuel injection, fully adjustable front and
rear suspension and a lightweight aluminium alloy swingarm, the 900SS remains a
rewarding and engaging machine to ride, whether on a winding B-road or as part
of a classic motorcycle collection.
Showing just 13,025 miles from new,
this is a particularly appealing example with exceptional provenance. The vendor
acquired the bike in February 2022, since when it has formed part of a private
collection. Although it has not been used on the road during that period, it has
been started regularly and recently benefitted from a programme of
recommissioning to ensure it remains in fine mechanical order.
Within the
last month, the machine has been fitted with a new fuel pump, fuel lines,
filters and battery, with the vendor reporting that it now runs spot on.
Pleasingly, the Ducati retains its original exhaust silencers, a feature
increasingly appreciated by collectors seeking originality.
Presented in
fantastic condition throughout, the bike is understood to be a two-owner machine
from new, with the mileage believed correct and supported by an impressively
comprehensive history file. Included within the sale are the V5C, no fewer than
17 previous MOT certificates, the original purchase invoice, service history
covering the period up to the vendor's acquisition in 2022, original handbooks,
factory brochures, invoices, old tax discs and even the two unused spare keys,
still sealed in their original packaging.
Increasingly recognised as one
of the last truly analogue Ducatis, the fuel-injected 900SS combines classic
styling, proven engineering and genuine everyday usability. With low-owner
provenance, exceptionally low mileage, outstanding documentation and excellent
overall condition, this handsome SuperSport represents a rare opportunity to
acquire a wonderfully original example of one of Bologna's most enduring
motorcycles.
