Showing just 31,431 miles;
desirable Knightsbridge specification; in storage since 2020; engine will run
when assisted with Easy Start
Once seen on every street in the UK in
the 1990s, the Rover 100. The final evolution of the much-loved Metro, the 100
combined compact dimensions, low running costs and surprising practicality,
while special editions such as the Knightsbridge added a welcome touch of luxury
and style.
First registered in April 1997, this Rover 100 Knightsbridge
is powered by the economical 1,120cc engine coupled to a manual gearbox. Showing
just 31,431 miles from new, it appears to have covered remarkably little mileage
during its lifetime and is a particularly appealing example of this increasingly
rare model.
The desirable Knightsbridge specification brought several
premium trim enhancements over the standard car, helping to elevate the Rover's
appeal and making it one of the more sought-after editions in the range. Today,
survivors in this specification are becoming decidedly scarce.
The car's
last MOT expired in October 2020, since when it has been in storage. It is
currently offered without a battery fitted, however the vendor advises that the
engine will run when assisted with Easy Start or similar. We are informed that
this points towards a likely fuel pump issue, although prospective purchasers
should satisfy themselves as to the precise cause and any further work
required.
As the photographs show, the Rover appears complete and offers
an increasingly rare opportunity to acquire a very low-mileage example requiring
recommissioning. With values of good, original Rover 100s steadily attracting
greater attention from enthusiasts of modern classics, examples with such modest
mileage are becoming difficult to find.
Requiring some attention to
return it to the road but benefiting from desirable Knightsbridge specification
and exceptionally low recorded mileage, this little Rover surely must be worth
saving. An appealing and increasingly rare piece of 1990s British motoring
history.
