Fantastic opportunity for potential promotion/catering business; in
need of some re-commissioning; stylish French charm
Few
commercial vehicles are as instantly recognisable or as universally admired as
the Citroën HY. With its unmistakable corrugated bodywork and unmistakable
French charm, the HY has become an icon in its own right, finding favour as
everything from campers and food trucks to coffee bars, promotional vehicles and
even garden offices.
This 1962 example has most recently
been used as a catering vehicle and remains fitted with a range of equipment
including a fridge, freezer, sink, coffee machine and useful cupboard storage.
Prospective purchasers intending to return it to catering use should expect to
inspect, service or replace these items as appropriate to meet their own
requirements.
The van is fully UK registered as 206
UYP and appears to have been on British roads since 1966, giving it
a long-established UK history. Unfortunately, no V5C is present, so the
successful purchaser will need to apply for a replacement
document.
At the time of cataloguing, the HY had not been
running, although a replacement battery is due to be fitted prior to the auction
in the hope of recommissioning it.
Whether restored as a
vintage catering vehicle, converted into a stylish camper, transformed into a
mobile coffee business or simply preserved as one of the most charismatic
commercial vehicles ever produced, this HY offers enormous potential. With
values of these iconic French vans continuing to strengthen, opportunities to
acquire one with such versatility are becoming increasingly
rare.
An exciting and highly characterful project, offering
endless possibilities for the next keeper.
