This Dnepr motorcycle and sidecar
project appears to be a very solid and rust-free outfit, offering an excellent
basis for light recommissioning or full restoration.
The vendor reports that it last ran
a few years ago, only falling silent after a well-meaning friend attempted to wire in
some lights. Encouragingly, the engine turns over freely with compression,
suggesting a straightforward path back to running condition.
The petrol tank looks to be freshly
refurbished inside and out, a welcome bonus on a machine of this age. Included
with the outfit is also a box of spares, containing useful items such as rubber
mounts and lights, giving the next owner a helpful head
start.
Believed
to have been used as a TV/film prop at some point in its life — which may
explain the distinctive paintwork — this rugged Soviet-era machine carries all the charm
and character associated with Dnepr motorcycles and their military-influenced engineering. As a further
bonus, this example is equipped with reverse gear, a feature that makes
maneuvering a sidecar outfit far easier and is often sought after by enthusiasts
of sidecar rigs.
Currently not UK road registered, however we
have contacted the NOVA vehicle department, and they have confirmed the chassis
number is logged with them for DVLA registration purposes and that all duties
are already paid.
A promising and unusually solid project,
offering a great opportunity for someone looking to revive a classic Eastern
Bloc outfit with plenty of character and mechanical
simplicity.
