Powered by the 2,849cc naturally aspirated PRV

A very rare sight on UK roads today, this is a
Renault Alpine GTA V6, first registered in April 1987 and powered by the 2,849cc
naturally aspirated PRV V6. Finished in Blanc Nacré pearl with its wonderfully
period velour interior, it presents as a highly appealing example of Renault’s
lightweight, composite-bodied grand tourer, now showing
only 100,733 miles.
Developed as the successor to the A310, the GTA
was Alpine’s bold attempt to take on the Porsche 911, using advanced
aerodynamics, a lightweight polyester
and
fiberglass body, and
the proven PRV V6. In the UK, however, Renault could not use the Alpine name due
to a trademark conflict with Sunbeam’s Alpine sports cars, so all
official UK imports were Renault-badged, despite being full Alpine
products underneath. This has long made UK-market cars an interesting talking
point among enthusiasts and collectors.
The paperwork includes the current V5C, MOT to
May 2027, four old MOT certificates, the original Handbook, and a period
brochure. The car has previously been owned by Alpine Club members, suggesting
knowledgeable and enthusiastic custodianship.
Around five years ago, the Alpine underwent a
recommissioning, which included new tyres, refurbished alloy wheels, a refresh
of the braking system, and a thorough engine service. Stored safely in the front
boot is a pair of new and unfitted, super-rare original headlamp glasses
— a valuable and increasingly
hard-to-find addition for any Alpine
enthusiast.
A
rare opportunity to acquire one of the most distinctive and technically
interesting performance cars of the 1980s, offered in an attractive colour
scheme and with the benefit of recent recommissioning. Increasingly sought after
and seldom seen.
