Lotus engineered one of the finest
front-wheel-drive chassis ever produced; showing
only 90,008 miles; powered by the robust Isuzu turbo engine and built with
modern reliability in mind; complete with a comprehensive folder of
invoices.
First registered in January 1991, this Lotus
Elan SE Turbo is a rare sight on today’s roads, representing the
sharp-handling, Isuzu-powered era of Hethel’s engineering. With its distinctive
pop-up headlights and the renowned Isuzu
1588cc engine, the SE Turbo remains one of the most engaging front-wheel-drive sports cars of its time.
Finished in Metallic Blue with the signature grey and red leather interior, it
presents well and retains the unmistakable look of the early-’90s Elan.
Developed under the internal code
M100, the 1990s Elan marked a bold departure for Lotus. Instead of the
traditional rear-wheel-drive layout, Lotus engineered one
of the finest front-wheel-drive chassis ever produced,
achieving levels of grip and composure that astonished the motoring press.
Powered by the robust Isuzu turbo engine and built with modern reliability in
mind, the M100 Elan was intended to bring Lotus to a wider audience while
preserving the brand’s hallmark handling precision.
Today, its engineering purity and rarity make it increasingly appreciated among
enthusiasts of Lotus history.
The paperwork includes the current V5C, the
old-style Log Book, MOT to June 2027, 12
old MOT certificates, and a comprehensive folder of invoices, giving confidence
in its history and upkeep. Now showing only 90,008 miles, the Elan was driven to
the sale and has been starting and driving on site without issue, suggesting a
usable and well-maintained
example.
A
pleasing opportunity to acquire a well-presented SE Turbo with good
history, long MOT, and the charm that makes these cars increasingly sought
after.
