Rare one of
only 700 Right-Hand Drive Fiat X1/9 Lido special edition to be built; showing
35,947 miles which the vendor believes to be correct; off the road for 13 years
requiring only a light recommissioning on the engine and brakes to bring back to
road worthy condition.
First registered in
April 1979, this example is fitted with a 1,290cc engine paired to a manual
gearbox. It has had five previous keepers and has been in its current ownership
since August 2010. The car is offered as requiring light recommissioning and
should be considered a non-runner, having been off the road for many years.
Although it was started annually, the most recent attempt resulted in the engine
turning over without firing.
The Lido edition is
among the most distinctive and desirable variants of the X1/9 range. Named after
the famous Parisian cabaret, it adds a sense of glamour to an already striking
mid-engined design. This special edition features unique details such as
metallic black paintwork, white Alcantara upholstery, silver pinstriping,
chrome-accented bumpers and individually numbered badging. It is believed that
only around 700 right-hand-drive Lido models were produced, making it a
particularly rare example today.
Given the
model’s known susceptibility to corrosion, relatively few examples are thought
to have survived. This car appears to be notably solid throughout, and the
vendor advises that, to their knowledge, no welding has been carried out during
its lifetime. It is offered with a substantial history file, making it an
appealing prospect for anyone wishing to restore it to its former glory or
preserve it as a piece of period Italian design.
The car is currently fitted with a set of aftermarket Raceline alloy
wheels; however, the original X1/9 wheels are also included for those seeking
originality. Additionally, it benefits from a rare period exhaust system,
enhancing both its appearance and sound.
