LHD French
Kadett GSI known in the UK as an Astra GTE 2.0; some additional Lexmaul
performance enhancements; great condition inside and
out
It is increasingly rare to encounter an
example such as this: a two-door Opel Kadett GSi 2.0-litre 8-valve (UK-market
equivalent Vauxhall Astra GTE), enhanced discreetly with period-correct Lexmaul
performance upgrades. Finished in arguably the model’s most desirable colour,
Diamond White, the car retains its original cloth interior and presents as an
honest, well-preserved survivor from the golden era of 1980s hot
hatches.
Imported from Andorra approximately two
years ago, the car has covered minimal mileage since and is understood to have
benefited from dry storage in recent years. As a result, it appears notably
solid underneath and offers a very pleasing presentation throughout, both
cosmetically and mechanically.
Largely original
in specification, the car deviates only where expected of a period
enthusiast-owned example, namely the wheels, intake system, and subtle bonnet
eyebrow detailing. Importantly, it has avoided the extensive modifications that
claimed many of these cars during the 1990s and early 2000s — a key factor in
its increasing desirability today.
Accompanying
the vehicle is a collection of invoices, predominantly from its time in Andorra,
along with the original handbooks and service book, adding welcome
provenance.
With a recorded mileage of 208,568
km, the car is reported to start, run, and drive well. It has been driven since
arriving on site and completed a journey of over 75 miles without
issue.
As Kadett GSi and Astra GTE models
continue to disappear — many lost to modification or attrition — well-preserved
examples such as this are becoming highly collectable. With Escort XR3i and
Turbo values already firmly established, it is widely accepted that these cars
are poised to follow a similar trajectory, with far fewer remaining in
circulation.
A rare opportunity to acquire a
genuine, usable modern classic before values climb further and availability
diminishes altogether.
