Rare opportunity; highly
sought-after manual transmission; a configuration regarded by many as the
pinnacle of Mitsubishi’s performance era; just five owners from new; represents
an increasingly scarce modern classic from the golden age of Japanese sports
cars
Powered by the formidable
2970cc V6 twin-turbo engine and paired with a six-speed manual gearbox, the car
is finished in metallic silver with a black leather interior. First registered
in October 1998, it benefits from a current MOT valid until 15 January 2027. A
turbo timer is fitted and fully operational, and new brake pipes have recently
been installed. The car currently wears a full Mitsubishi Racing livery, which
can be removed if desired.
The GTO was driven over ten
miles to the venue, starting easily and running, stopping and performing exactly
as expected during photography and video filming. It is currently showing the
recorded mileage as displayed.
Accompanying the car is a
useful history file documenting maintenance and expenditure over the years.
Notably, belts and tensioners, a new exhaust system and prop bearings were
replaced in 2015, with additional receipts evidencing further work carried out
during previous ownerships.
Manual twin-turbo GTOs are
seldom offered, and examples like this are increasingly recognised as the “holy
grail” of Mitsubishi performance cars. As interest in 1990s Japanese icons
continues to grow, this represents a compelling opportunity for collectors and
enthusiasts alike.
